Rathijit Sen joined the Microsoft Gray Systems Lab (opens in new tab) (GSL) in 2016. His work focuses on predicting optimal configurations for running data analytics queries, improving in-DBMS machine learning operations, and exploring hardware acceleration opportunities. The goal of his research is to improve performance, resource utilization, and cost efficiency. His research interests include data analytics, performance modeling, applied machine learning, and computer architecture.
Rathijit earned his PhD. from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, with his thesis based on energy-efficient management of reconfigurable computers (opens in new tab). He received an M.S. from UW-Madison, an M.E. from the Indian Institute of Science, and a B.C.S.E. from Jadavpur University. Previously he has also worked at Texas Instruments, India, and as a research assistant at UW-Madison and Saarland University.
