I am a researcher at Microsoft Research Cambridge. My focus is to explore revolutionary optical technologies with tangible applications for the Cloud Infrastructure. I am part of a vibrant team working on Project Silica, an ambitious venture to store data in quartz glass using femto-second lasers.
I gained my PhD in Engineering Science in 2016 from the University of Oxford. Also, I have an MSc in Optics and Photonics from Imperial College London and the Institute d’Optique Paris. Before my graduate studies, I worked as an data operations engineer for the European Organization for Nuclear Research (CERN), Switzerland. This position was held in collaboration with Los Andes University, Bogota, Colombia, where I completed my undergraduate studies in Electrical Engineering in 2008. My research interests are optical microscopy, data storage and optical communications.
Currently, I am the Morgan Fellow at Downing College, University of Cambridge. I am passionate about cinema, Salsa dancing and Latin American culture.
