MSRNE 5th Anniversary Symposium – Economics and Computer Science: A Dialogue
The interface between economics and computer science has greatly advanced the state of the art in both fields. This session features two thought leaders, one from economics and one from computer science, and their comments on how this interface has impacted their own research and the direction of research within their respective fields.

Christos Papadimitriou studied in Greece and at Princeton, and has taught at Harvard, MIT, Stanford, UCSD, and since 1996 at Berkeley, where he is the C. Lester Hogan Professor of Computer Science. His research is about algorithms and complexity, and their applications to a variety of fields such as databases, optimization, AI and robotics, networks, game theory and economics, and evolution. He has published several of the standard textbooks in Computer Science, and the novels “Turing” and “Logicomix.” He is a member of the National Academy of Sciences, the National Academy of Enginering, and the American Academy of Arts and Sciences.
