AI and Social Good Workshop 2017

Microsoft Research, in collaboration with University of Southern California center for AI and Society (opens in new tab) in organizing a small focused group workshop at MSRI India on 24th and 25th September 2018.

The goal of this workshop is to 1) bring together Decision/ Policy makers, academics, NGOs, social enterprises on problems of national importance, and 2) form inter-disciplinary working groups who work on these identified problems over the next few months and help create positive impact on lives of people.

Last year’s (opens in new tab) workshop had nearly ~70 attendees and a few key projects were identified.

Some themes identified for this year’s workshop are:-

  • Public Health, Social Welfare and Healthcare
  • Environment and Sustainability
  • Social Media and misinformation
  • Education
  • Agriculture

The workshop will include keynotes, presentations from NGOs/ Social enterprises highlighting areas where they think the CS research community can help, and breakout sessions to formulate concrete problems that groups will take up and work on over the next few months. This event is by invitation only. NGOs/ Social enterprises will be invited based on their alignment to above mentioned themes and problem statements they might have identified already.

This event is by invitation only, and we will not be able to accommodate any more attendee requests. We will update this page with more details post the workshop.
