AI Forum 2023

We are living in an exhilarating era where Artificial Intelligence (AI) is revolutionizing our world in ways we’ve never seen before. From healthcare to education, transportation to entertainment, AI is not only reshaping industries but also expanding the horizons of what we thought was possible.

As we witness this transformation, it becomes increasingly clear that the intersection of AI with society and science is of utmost significance. AI has the potential to address complex societal challenges, ranging from climate change to healthcare disparities. On the scientific front, AI serves as a potent tool that propels scientific discovery and innovation, enhancing the efficiency of research and unveiling new realms of exploration that were once beyond our grasp.

Against this backdrop, we are delighted to invite you to the AI Forum 2023. This event will be hosted by Microsoft Research Asia in collaboration with The University of Tokyo, under the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) that was concluded between Microsoft Corporation and The University of Tokyo on August 14, 2023. The MOU promotes AI research as one of its three collaboration points. Themed “AI Synergy: Society and Science”, this forum serves as a unique platform where thought leaders from both organizations will share groundbreaking advancements in AI research and explore the synergy between AI, society, and science. We hope to delve deeper into these synergies, unlock their potential, and chart a course where AI acts as a catalyst for societal transformation and scientific progress.

This year holds special significance for Microsoft Research Asia as we celebrate our 25th anniversary. Over the past quarter-century, we have been steadfast in our commitment to interdisciplinary and cross-boundary research, dedicated to creating breakthrough technologies that will shape the future of AI and humanity for the better. As part of our anniversary celebrations, we are thrilled to host this AI Forum.

私たちはいま、世界を変革するかつてない人工知能（AI）の時代に生きています。医療から教育、移動からエンターテインメントまで、AIは産業を再構築するだけでなく、可能性の地平線を拡げています。 この変革に立ち会う中で、AIと社会や科学との交点が最も重要であることがますます明らかになってきました。AIは、気候変動から医療格差まで、複雑な社会課題に対応する可能性を持っています。科学的な面では、AIは科学的発見とイノベーションを推進する強力なツールとして機能し、研究の効率を高め、かつては手の届かなかった探求の新たな領域を開拓しています。

このような背景のもと、私たちは「AIフォーラム2023」にみなさんをご招待いたします。このイベントは、2023年8月にマイクロソフトと東京大学が締結した基本合意書（MOU） (opens in new tab)に基づき、マイクロソフトリサーチアジアと東京大学が共催します。

「AIシナジー：科学と社会」というテーマのもと、両者の専門家がAI研究における画期的な進歩を共有し、AIと社会と科学とのシナジーを探るユニークなプラットフォームとしてこのフォーラムを展開します。私たちはこれらのシナジーを深く掘り下げ、その可能性を解き放ち、AIが社会変革と科学的進歩の触媒となる道筋を描くことを目指しています。
