• Who is eligible to apply?

   

  Non UK citizens are eligible to apply but you may require a work visa.

  A PhD may not be required for some of our roles. Please refer to the qualifications listed in the job description for the position you are interested in applying for.

• What is Microsoft looking for in a candidate for the Microsoft Cambridge Residency Program?

   

  We are searching for a diverse range of researchers and engineers with unique perspectives, who want to see their work have real world impact. We are looking for multidisciplinary candidates who have expertise in one of the many tech domains and want to gain industry experience.

• How do I apply and what does the application timeline look like?

   

  You can explore open residency positions on the Microsoft Cambridge Career Opportunities (opens in new tab) site as well as the Microsoft Careers (opens in new tab) portal. Please click on the position you are interested in and apply. Our roles are posted throughout the year, so we encourage you to monitor the Microsoft Careers portal for updates and new opportunities. You can check the status of your application by logging in and accessing the portal, which includes information on where your application is in the recruiting process.

• What documents do I need to prepare in order to apply?

   

  You will need to upload a curriculum vitae (CV). A cover letter is not required. Please follow the detailed instructions when applying for a residency position.

• What benefits will I receive during the program?

• Where is the residency program based?

   

  The Microsoft Cambridge Residency Program will have opportunities at both our Cambridge UK office sites:

  • 21 Station Road, Cambridge, UK CB1 2FB
  • 198 Cambridge Science Park; Milton Road, Cambridge, UK CB4 0AB

• What can I expect at the completion of the residency program?

   

  Should there be a vacancy, residents are encouraged to apply for a full-time position at Microsoft at the end of their residency.

• Will I be able to publish my work as a resident?

   

  Microsoft does publish papers at top-tier venues and conferences. Should the opportunity present itself, then publishing is supported.

• What does the support system look like?

   

  As a resident, you will experience Microsoft’s open-door environment that encourages networking within all areas of the business. You can expect guidance on obtaining a mentor who will be available to you as you work through your professional growth and project milestones. We aim to support you while you are here with us!
