Description
Marlon Brando (The Godfather) made his first indelible mark on audiences in this powerful adaptation of Tennessee Williams' Pulitzer Prize-winning play. Vivien Leigh (Gone With the Wind) is the neurotic belle Blanche du Bois who struggles to hold on to her fading Southern gentility against the brutish badgering of her brother-in-law, Stanley Kowalski. Leigh, Kim Hunter (Lilith), Karl Malden (The Streets of San Francisco) and the rich black-and-white cinematography were all awarded Oscars for this cinematic classic. Newly restored to include extra footage censored in 1951 due to sexual content. Recently selected by the prestigious American Film Institute as one of the 50 greatest American films of all time.
