Focus on: Empower employees, Optimize operations, |
The City of Peachtree Corners, Georgia is digitally transforming how it keeps track of all the things that help a community run smoothly, from rivers and roads to signage and street lamps.
To pull it off, Peachtree has turned to LiDAR, a light and radar surveying method that allows users to navigate and measure areas and then create map-like digital representations of spaces and objects. Their new LiDAR truck, supported by Microsoft solutions like Surface and Office 365, is helping the city better understand and maintain its resources, both natural and man-made. By generating 3-D city maps through LiDAR, Peachtree Corners has created a database of assets, making field technicians’ jobs easier and promoting shared information with residents, city hall officials, and more.
The city’s use of LiDAR makes them one of the first to use the technology from the ground. Now that Peachtree Corners can plan smart and protect its resources, the city has become more reliable, more flexible, and more secure for its residents.
