Today marks the launch of the Microsoft Media and Entertainment Summit, a virtual event with over 30 on-demand sessions hosted by industry experts in content creation and production, content delivery, collaboration and productivity, and audience insights. The Summit is free and available to everyone. All that’s required is a quick registration, and you’re in.

The Microsoft Media and Entertainment Summit features perspective and guidance on the continued transformation of media and entertainment from some of the best minds at Microsoft, our solution partners, customers, and other leading industry organizations. The session topics span the full spectrum of the media and entertainment value chain with an emphasis on strategies and best practices to help organizations maintain business continuity, realize operational efficiencies, restart customer demand, and plan for success in a marketplace that has been forever changed.

When you first arrive at the Summit, a great place to start your experience will be the overview we provide on the forces that continue to drive change in media and entertainment, and how Microsoft and our partners empower organizations to address challenges, capitalize on opportunities, and achieve more with creativity, content, and experiences.

We also strongly encourage you to watch the session hosted by Jennifer Cooper, Microsoft’s Global Lead for Media and Entertainment, featuring Stephan Pretorius, the CTO of WPP. Stephan provides an exceptional summary of WPP’s work to transform its global operations to enable the creative workflows of the future with intelligent cloud-based creativity, collaboration, and productivity tools with an unwavering commitment to WPP’s core values of accessibility and inclusivity.

Next, we recommend watching the Welcome Address from Tad Brockway, our Corporate Vice-President for Azure Storage, Media, and Edge, who will give you a great overview of the Summit including highlights from a number of the must-see sessions. From there, you can spend as much time as you would like, and return for multiple visits, in any (or all) of the Summit’s four primary content areas.

Content creation and production

Content is the lifeblood of most media and entertainment organizations, and recent events have caused massive disruption to many content creation and production workflows. So, this area of the Summit will no doubt be a priority destination for many of you. Here, you can learn about a post-production world in the cloud, the future of the newsroom, and enabling secure remote content creation environments in sessions led by experts from Microsoft and our partners including Avid, Technicolor, Teradici, and Haivision. Be sure to also check out the session on our Insights & Discovery Accelerator, a cognitive search and AI tool to scale and speed investigations and research by journalists and publishers.

Content delivery

How can you automate the ingestion, protection, storage, subtitling, and translation of content for global distribution? How can you expedite programming playout and simultaneously deliver multiple streams of content, in multiple formats, to any device? And how can you index content using AI capabilities such as pattern recognition to enhance consumer exploration and discovery? These questions and more are answered in sessions led by our experts along with those from Harmonic, Red5 Pro, Telestream, Verizon Media Services, and Wowza on topics such as media routing in the cloud, video streaming at scale, and enriching your video streams with advanced analytics.

Collaboration and productivity

The past few months have placed a white-hot spotlight on the extent to which business continuity depends on intelligent and secure tools for both in-person and remote productivity and teamwork. Definitely prioritize these sessions on streamlining creative workflows with Microsoft 365, Adobe, and Support Partners. You also won’t want to miss the fantastic conversation with Jason Snyder, CTO of McCann Worldgroup, and Harry Grinling, CEO of Support Partners, on how Craft Worldwide is reimagining productivity for its global network of content creators for digital, print, and broadcast. And, be sure to watch the session on Search, Index, and Retrieve: how connected production accelerators within Microsoft Teams can change the way organizations collaborate, track data, and use assets.

Audience insights

With the continued disruption to many of the ways media and entertainment companies reach consumers, it’s essential for organizations to better understand and anticipate customer preferences and behaviors through comprehensive data-driven insights. Perhaps more important is the effective use of those insights to deliver personalized messaging, content, and experiences that deepen audience engagement. In this area of the Summit, you can see great examples of high-performing audience engagement strategies and solutions in sessions featuring our partners EngageRM and Singula Decisions. You can also watch an overview of Microsoft’s brand new Media and Communications Accelerator, which extends the Microsoft Common Data Model for the first time into media-specific entities to speed the development and deployment of solutions for audience engagement at both virtual and in-person events.

As you can tell, the Microsoft Media and Entertainment Summit has a lot to offer every media and entertainment leader who needs to accelerate content production, modernize collaboration, optimize content delivery, deepen audience insights, and better monetize content and experiences for their organization. And again, to get access to all of the sessions—available on-demand, 24/7—just complete the short registration form.

See you at the Summit!
