Integrate access to your favorite things

The power is yours as the Microsoft Edge sidebar provides quick and integrated access to favorite websites and tools. The days of cluttering up your browser with multiple open tabs are gone. The Edge sidebar can significantly enhance your browsing experience, and it’s conveniently located on the right-side vertical edge of the browser window. You can choose to turn it on or off.

Take a look at the right-side vertical edge of your Edge browser window. If the sidebar is not visible, you can enable it. Here’s how:

  1. Open Microsoft Edge and click Settings and more in the upper right corner.
  2. From the menu, select Settings.
  3. Select Sidebar.
  4. In the Sidebar Visibility section, select Always On. The sidebar appears on the right side of the browser window. You can also choose to automatically hide the sidebar. To do this, select Auto hidden. If you choose to automatically hide the side, you can access it from the Copilot icon.

Become familiar with the sidebar

The sidebar contains few default options, including:

  • Tools. Enhance your productivity with a collection of tools available in the sidebar. The Tools pane gives you quick access to helpful tools, like an Internet speed test. Several other tools are available right at your fingertips, including a calculator, translator, and a unit converter. Customize the Tools pane to make it just right for you.
  • Microsoft 365. Access your Microsoft 365 tools, documents, and more from within your browser, and work on them in real time. With Microsoft 365 available from the sidebar, there’s no need to constantly hunt for the available apps and switch between tabs and windows. Instead, you have the collection of apps accessible directly from the sidebar.
  • Games. Discover and play a variety of free games within Edge without leaving the tab you’re currently on. The Games option includes classics like Microsoft Solitaire, Microsoft Bubble, and Microsoft Sudoku. You can also explore different game genres and enjoy daily challenges to set high scores – all without leaving the browser.

Your sidebar, your choice

To boost your productivity and enhance your online experience, you get to choose how to make the sidebar work best for you by adding any page or site of your choice to the sidebar. Simply pin your favorite apps, websites, productivity tools, and more to the sidebar. Your sidebar, your choice.

  2. At the top of the Customize pane, search for favorite websites and pin them to the sidebar. This gives you quick access to your favorites.
  3. In the Discover more section of the Customize pane, choose from a variety of apps and sites that you want to have access to from the sidebar. Your favorite social media sites, financial tools, and shopping sites can be a click away when you pin them to the sidebar.

After you’re happy with what you’ve pinned to the sidebar, you can also customize notifications and permissions. To do this, follow these steps:
